Microsoft ha rilasciato puntualmente il Patch Tuesday del mese di luglio 2018
È stata naturalmente aggiornata l’ultima versione di Windows 10, l’April 2018 Update o la Versione 1803, che passa alla build numero 17134.165 attraverso il pacchetto KB4338819 (download manuale). Ecco le novità:
- Improves the ability of the Universal CRT Ctype family of functions to correctly handle EOF as valid input.
- Enables debugging of WebView content in UWP apps using the Microsoft Edge DevTools Preview app that’s available in the Microsoft Store.
- Addresses an issue that may cause the Mitigation Options Group Policy client-side extension to fail during GPO processing. The error message is “Windows failed to apply the MitigationOptions settings. MitigationOptions settings might have its own log file” or “ProcessGPOList: Extension MitigationOptions returned 0xea.” This issue occurs when Mitigation Options has been defined either manually or by Group Policy on a machine using Windows Defender Security Center or the PowerShell Set-ProcessMitigation cmdlet.
- Evaluates the Windows ecosystem to help ensure application and device compatibility for all updates to Windows.
- Security updates to Internet Explorer, Windows apps, Windows graphics, Windows datacenter networking, Windows wireless networking, Windows virtualization, Windows kernel, and Windows Server.
Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, 1709, riceve il pacchetto KB4338825 (download manuale), e arriva alla build numero 16299.547.
- Addresses an issue that, in some cases, causes the wrong IME mode to be chosen on an IME-active element.
- Addresses an issue with form submission in Internet Explorer.
- Addresses an issue where DNS requests disregard proxy configurations in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
- Addresses additional issues with updated time zone information.
- Addresses an issue that causes the latest versions of Google Chrome (67.0.3396.79+) to stop working on Cobalt devices.
- Evaluates the Windows ecosystem to help ensure application and device compatibility for all updates to Windows.

Questa versione contiene alcuni problemi noti su cui Microsoft è al lavoro, fra cui mancate traduzioni dalla lingua inglese.
Viene aggiornato anche Windows 10 Mobile v. 1709, che arriva alla build 15254.490. Le novità sono identiche a quelle che abbiamo già riportato per il Fall Creators Update.
Ricevono l’aggiornamento anche i PC che hanno ancora Windows 10 Creators Update (1703), con il pacchetto KB4338826, e arrivano alla build 15063.1206. Le novità di seguito:

È Patch Tuesday anche per chi è rimasto su Windows 10 Anniversary Update, che porta la build alla 14393.2363 con il pacchetto KB4338814.

Come avvenuto a Maggio, non ci sono aggiornamenti per Windows 10 v. 1511, mentre riceve la patch la versione originale del sistema operativo, Windows 10 v. 1507. In questo caso gli utenti riceveranno il pacchetto KB4338829, che porta la build alla 10240.17914 e presenta queste novità:
- Provides protections for an additional vulnerability involving side-channel speculative execution known as Lazy Floating Point (FP) State Restore (CVE-2018-3665) for 64-Bit (x64) versions of Windows.
- Updates Internet Explorer’s Inspect Element feature to conform to the policy that disables the launch of Developer Tools.
- Addresses an issue that, in some cases, causes the wrong IME mode to be chosen on an IME-active element.
- Addresses an issue where DNS requests disregard proxy configurations in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.

Tutti gli aggiornamenti riportati nella pagina verranno applicati automaticamente ai prossimi riavvii sui sistemi con le relative versioni di Windows installate. L’utente può inoltre applicare manualmente l’aggiornamento, attivando la procedura dalla schermata Windows Update presente nelle Impostazioni del sistema operativo. Microsoft supporta ancora sia Windows 8.1 che Windows 7: chi è su Windows 7 SP1 o Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, riceve il KB4338818 (qui le novità), mentre chi utilizza Windows 8.1 o Windows Server 2012 R2 riceverà il KB4338815 che introduce queste novità.
Ci sono problemi noti solo sulle ultime patch per Windows 7, relativi alla configurazione del controller dell’interfaccia di rete che potrebbe causare il mancato funzionamento dello stesso.
